Edinburgh, Scotland!

Parents who are willing to visit their daughter who ‘abandoned’ them by moving across the pond deserve a medal. Surely the drive in NYC traffic to the airport, two hour check-in at the airport, 5+ hour long flight and hour tube journey were all worth it to see their angel who ended up having a stomach bug the entire trip.

But that’s what happened this past weekend! It wasn’t a total loss, though! We managed to make it to Edinburgh and Loch Lomond in Scotland and experience the beautiful sites that surrounded us, along with the ever-so-mystical weather patterns of rain, sun, rain, sun, rain, sun, rain, rain, rain! Although I could never be more than a moment’s notice from the toilet and the 9 hour long bus tour was less than amusing to my stomach, the reunion with my parents was worth it!

I highly recommend Scotland for it’s castles and hills and historic ambiance. Less so for it’s food. Mom was all gung-ho on trying as much British fare as possible. So many beef pies, chips (french fries) and lack of vegetable did not help the churning stomach!

Bottom line. Visit Scotland for its alluring history, beautiful lochs (lakes) and unpredictable weather, not necessarily its food! I may be biased tho, since I was battling a bug to begin with!
