I haven’t written in a while because I have been spending all my time enjoying my last few days in Europe and packing up 2.5 years of my life. I moved back to New York on Father’s Day and it’s been a struggle so far. Going from 8.2 million people to 40k is a huge cultural shock. There is no public transport, nowhere to walk, and even if I did have a car, there is nowhere exciting to drive to and waste gas on.

Friends in the area are limited too. I took a two hour nap today because I was bored, not tired. I am waiting for my friend to pick me up to go out to dinner, but she is perpetually late and I fear by the time she gets here I’ll be asleep from the jet lag. Another friend asked if I wanted to go to the local shopping mall, but just the thought of going to the popular high school hangout location seems dreadful.

Seeing my family has of course been good and everyone is overwhelmingly excited to see me and ask loads of questions about London. In one sense, it’s fun to have so much attention on me, on the other hand I don’t really feel like talking about the awesome adventure that just ended, while I am currently trying to adjust to my new life.

I’m sure in time it will get easier to be back home and it is nice to live in a relaxed, slow-paced environment, but I think I have the right to be sad and nostalgic.

I miss you London….
